Lightning Shots! News and Updates for Ahwatukee Lighting Lax

Hello, Tukee Family!

Great news! We have been allotted field space by the City of Phoenix! So Fall Ball is definitely on. Now is the time to start getting your body ready for lacrosse. If you have not been active in the past 3, 4, 5, 6 months it is time to pick up your stick (or find your stick) and hit the wall. Start getting some cardio in as well, start walking, ease into running and be ready to hit the field. Some body weight exercises, like pushups, and some active stretching would be a good addition as well

Fall Ball Registration Opens September 14

Registration for our Fall Ball season is now open. Practices will begin Tuesday, October 13, and end December 13, with the Lax4Life charity tournament.

All practices (8u, 10u, 12u, and 14u) will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The specific schedules are TBD, but we will be staggering the start times for 8u, 10u, and 12u as part of our health and safety protocols. We have secured our usual field space: Pecos Park, Field 7 (near the dog parks).

Registration fees are the same as last year: $250 for 14u, $200 for 12u and 10u, and $150 for 8u. Discounts on fees are available to continuing players who also register for the Arizona Elite Box Lacrosse league ($50), as well as families who are registering multiple siblings ($25 per sibling).

Additionally, any family who secures a sponsorship of at least $500 are eligible to have their registration fees waived.  Fee waivers are also available for parent coaches – if you would be interested in helping manage practices twice a week, please let us know!

Spaces Remain in Fall Box Lacrosse League

Rosters slots remain on the Ahwatukee Lightning box lacrosse teams – we are fielding both a Bantam (7th/8th) and PeeWee (5th/6th) squad in the new Arizona Elite Box Lacrosse League.

Box lacrosse is an exciting, fast-paced variant on field lacrosse. Play occurs in a turf-covered hockey rink, so no ‘out of bounds’ means constant, fast-paced action. Box lacrosse has become a hot trend for college players as a way to increase stick-handling skills, off-ball movement, and ‘lax IQ.’ This opportunity is intended to *complement* the Fall Ball season, not replace it - no worries about having to choose!

The cost would be approximately $185 (if at least 15 players register) per player and includes a jersey. Players would also need to obtain a BOXLA membership before the first games on October 18. Games and practices will be Sundays from September 27 through November 22. Games will take place at the Arizona Sports Complex in Glendale beginning October 18. Practice locations are TBD.

Rosters space is limited, so visit  http://www.leagueathletics.com/Registration/Default.asp?n=&org=ahwatukeelax.com&cat=Box+Lacrosse to register today!

Pre-Season Agility and Conditioning Sessions

Getting bored? Feeling slow? Ahwatukee Lacrosse is organizing a pre-fall agility and conditioning program, led by Coach Jesse Gutierrez.

Sessions will begin September 15th and run Tuesdays and Thursdays until October 8.  Cost will be $50 for the eight-session series.

The 5th/6th grade group is full, but space remains for 7th and 8th grade. Workouts will be at Desert Foothills Park (at Chandler and Marketplace).

Seeking Sponsors for 2020-2021 Season

The club is seeking sponsors for the 2020-2021 season! If you own a local business (or know someone who does!), please consider becoming one of our team sponsors.

With over 100 players ranging in age from 5 to 14, Ahwatukee Lacrosse is among the most developed youth lacrosse programs in the Southwest. Your sponsorship will help to fund our league fees, uniform costs, equipment needs, and field fees. Most importantly, our fundraising helps to keep our registration fees as low as possible for our families and support our scholarship fund for needy families. As a non-profit organization, we strive to keep our fees low while providing a key benefit to our local community.  Your sponsorship funding will remain here in Ahwatukee and support local families.

Contact Club President Kyle Mox ( ) for further information.

We offer several levels of sponsorship, with varying benefits. Each level of sponsorship includes all the cumulative benefits of the preceding sponsorship levels:

MVP - $500

Logo on our website, with link to company web site

State Champ - $1000

Logo on team T-shirt

Division I - $2000

Prominent placement on website

Regular mentions on social media (Facebook/Instagram)

Banners/flags displayed on fields during games

Logo placement on gameday shooter shirts
